Fulbright New Century Scholar

With pleasure, we announce that Dr. Gioconda Herrera, Ph.D., faculty member at Flacso and a researcher on gender and migration issues, has been chosen as one of the Fulbright New Century Scholars for the year 2004-2005.

Thirty top academics and professionals collaborate for a year on a topic of global significance. For the current year, the research theme is "Toward Equality: The Global Empowerment of Women." Dr. Herrera will begin her grant with a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, where the thirty academicians and professionals will meet NCS Distinguished Scholar Leader, Dr. Carolyn Elliott, Professor Emerita at the University of Vermont, to delineate potential collaborative outcomes for the program.

We are truly honored to have an Ecuadorian citizen in this important
grant, proving once more that Ecuador truly has exceptional people who contribute to its daily development.

Breakfast at Fulbright

On March 13, the Fulbright Commission will host the first Breakfast at Fulbright in honor of our returning grantees. This will be a great opportunity for the grantees to get to know each other better and network; and, it will give the FC the chance to know what their plans are now that they have returned to Ecuador.
